It is interesting, but I was really into original "Oulunkoulu"-style in still in 1989 as it is visible here in hand drawn scetches for a client of my office back then ( by my office I mean the office were I worked ). None of this was realised like this. Lots of ideas were "sucked" from international magazines of that time ( also visit to see Venturi Mother's House is clear ).
By the time I made my diploma ( Sports Aviation Center in Räyskälä ) I had tried desperately to develop a style of my own. Visible here in the sauna building of the diploma. I wanted to imitate the long wings in sail planes and bring that austerity into architecture as well.
One of the first of my sketches in Greifswald / Germany in 1994 below ( Wackerowstrasse ). Clearly still affected by the works done in Oulu School of Architecture ( Heikki Taskinen and NVV offices ).
Wackerowstrasse student housing building has apparently been realised, but altered ( like the Paakkolanvaara building above/top ). John Hejduk kinda artistic use of trees on top of the building complex is still a sign of postmodernist approach into architecture. Time spend in Berlin and Potsdam 1995-1997 and working with professor O.M.Ungers, Catherine ( Emmerich-Focke ) & Wolfhard Focke and Faber & Krebs offices certainly brought my views into more detailed simplistic approach in modern context with certain classical backbeat...:)
